How do you adapt a brand to showcase your personality?

Drawing inspiration from IKEA manuals
IKEA is universally known for its simple and easy to follow product manuals, communicated with nothing but illustrations. Drawing inspiration from this universal language, I created a self-promotion book for IKEA Coquitlam that showcased my ability to design a story through layout, typography and illustration. I carefully studied IKEA’s brand and adapted their instruction manual to showcase who I am as a designer.
Providing a friendly tone of voice
The content is meant to match IKEA’s tone of voice for the reader. The booklet illustrates and lists relevant skills that I carry as a designer, but is also paired with fun and friendly facts about my personality and life. IKEA carries a very similar tone of voice that is casual and friendly in order to successfully communicate with their customers. IKEA's ability to weave this voice throughout their brand helps to build trust, reliability, and creditability in their products.
